Alión 2017 — Spring frost and a very warm summer. A short but dense harvest, with fleshy, spicy wines.
Frost and heat: a short harvest and a concentrated Alión, with ripe, dark fruit. Intense, almost opaque colour. The nose goes to stewed blackberry, liquorice, dark chocolate and toasted spices, with a warm touch. A dense, powerful palate with abundant tannins and a fleshy texture, and a long, lush finish. The most full-bodied year of the series; it calls for aeration and a hearty dish.
Around 14–16 months in new French oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing before release.
Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) 100%.
Sirloin, rib-eye, small game, lamb stews and semi-cured cheeses.
16–18 °C. Decant for at least 30–45 minutes.
