Alión 2018 — A cool, rainy year; Atlantic, fruity wines with marked acidity.
A cool, rainy year that gives the most Atlantic and taut Alión of the range. Intense purple with a lively rim. A nose of fresh black fruit, violet, liquorice and a minty balsamic note, with well-judged oak. On the palate it stands out for its nerve: juicy, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, fresh finish. Filigree and tension rather than sheer power; delicious and with a future.
Around 14–16 months in new French oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing before release.
Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) 100%.
Sirloin, rib-eye, small game, lamb stews and semi-cured cheeses.
16–18 °C. Decant for at least 30–45 minutes.
