Macán 2011 — A warm, very ripe year. A historic vintage for Rioja; powerful, deep wines with long evolution.
An excellent vintage in Rioja and the ripest Macán of the house here. Garnet with the first brick-coloured hints. The nose, already tertiary, unfolds red fruit liqueur, forest floor, leather, spices and a very fine balsamic background. An elegant, tightly knit palate with resolved tannins, lively acidity and a long, aristocratic finish; the power of a great year tamed by time. At its peak; a modern Rioja already speaking with a noble past.
Around 18 months in new French oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing.
Tempranillo 100%.
Red meats, small game, mushrooms, truffle and mature cheeses.
16–18 °C. Decant for 30–60 minutes.
