Único 2010 — A benchmark harvest: cool spring, moderate summer and slow ripening. Elegant, precise and very long-lived wines.
One of the legendary vintages of the century in Ribera, and it shows here. Garnet colour still luminous. A nose of serene complexity —blackcurrant, dried violet, graphite, liquorice, bitter cocoa and a balsamic rockrose background— that opens in layers with air. On the palate it combines what few years achieve: body and freshness at once, with very fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity that tightens the whole and an endless mineral persistence. Far from its peak; a classic to cellar or to enjoy with respect.
More than ten years from harvest to release: six in oak barrels (new and used) and three to four in bottle.
Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) around 95% and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Noble red meats (aged beef, oxtail, big game), black truffle, squab and great aged cheeses.
16–18 °C. Long decanting —at least two hours— for wines with medium ageing; double decanting recommended for older vintages.
